Reyes Family

The Reyes family’s patriarch, Miguel delos Reyes “Tay” Reyes, raised his family in Cavite City and traveled extensively to the United States and Europe because of his work with the U.S. government. Tay’s wife, Salud, stayed in Cavite City and raised their 13 children. All but one child—who chose to watch over the family home—ultimately immigrated to the U.S. The children emigrated because of spouses in the U.S. Navy, college scholarships, or as the recipient of a visa petition from another sibling. All siblings established roots in Southern California—specifically San Diego and Pasadena. A member of the Pasadena family married a Filipina of Igorot descent. The rest have married non-Indigenous Filipino/as who speak Tagalog.
